Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened (equivalent to 1 stick)

2 large eggs, at room temperature

½ cup whole milk, also at room temperature

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon fine sea salt

½ teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Meanwhile, prepare a 12-cup muffin pan by lining each cup with colorful cupcake liners.

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sea salt. Whisk these ingredients together until evenly mixed, then set the bowl aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together. Continue mixing for about 3-4 minutes, until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, which indicates that air has been incorporated for a perfect texture.

Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla: Crack in the eggs one at a time, ensuring to mix well after each addition. Once both eggs are fully blended into the mixture, add the pure vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually introduce the dry flour mixture to the wet batter, alternating with the whole milk. Start and finish with the flour mixture (flour, milk, flour, milk, flour), mixing gently after each addition until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to dense cupcakes.

Fill the Liners: Using a cookie scoop or a spoon, fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with the batter. This allows for the cupcakes to rise perfectly without overflowing.

Bake: Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of a cupcake; it should come out clean when they are ready.

Cool the Cupcakes: Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and let the cupcakes cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Afterward, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely, allowing air to circulate around them.

Frost (Optional): Once the cupcakes are completely cool, you can frost them with your favorite vanilla buttercream icing. For an extra touch of fun, sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top.
