Ingredients

2 cups of cooked rice (white or brown)

2 cups of fresh broccoli florets

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, finely diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (for a crispy topping)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the casserole cooks evenly.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil and allow it to heat. Once hot, add the diced onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until translucent and fragrant. Subsequently, stir in the minced garlic and continue to sauté for an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

Blanch the Broccoli: While the onion and garlic are cooking, bring a small pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the broccoli florets and blanch them for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Immediately transfer the blanched broccoli to an ice bath to halt the cooking process, then drain and set aside.

Prepare the Creamy Sauce: Return to the skillet with the sautéed onions and garlic, and pour in the heavy cream. Next, add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Once bubbling, add both the sharp cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until everything combines beautifully and forms a creamy sauce.

Combine the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, blend the cooked rice, sautéed broccoli, and the creamy garlic sauce. Stir thoroughly to ensure every component is evenly coated with the luscious sauce.

Prepare for Baking: Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly across the bottom. For a delightful crunch, sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top of the casserole.

Bake the Casserole: Place the dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbling joyfully.

Serve and Enjoy: After removing from the oven, allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes. Just before serving, garnish with the freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness.

                  Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 55 minutes | Servings: 6

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve the casserole in individual portions on colorful plates to highlight its creamy texture and vibrant color. A sprinkle of extra parsley on top will enhance its visual appeal.
