8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice (spaghetti or penne recommended)

1 cup creamy hummus (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup vegetable broth (or reserved pasta water)

1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional: Red pepper flakes, for a spicy kick

Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast for a vegan alternative

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add your chosen pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve 1/2 cup of the starchy pasta cooking water. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
