Ingredients

8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice (e.g., fettuccine or penne)

1 can (5 oz) tuna in olive oil, well-drained

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon zest (approximately from 1 lemon)

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely diced

Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Lemon wedges and additional dill for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook following the package directions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water for later use. Set the pasta aside.

Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil. Once the oil is shimmering, add the diced onion. Sauté for approximately 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes soft and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Make the Creamy Sauce: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Pour in the heavy cream, then add the lemon zest, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and chopped dill. Stir consistently, allowing the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on it and stir frequently to prevent sticking.

Add Tuna and Combine: Carefully fold in the drained tuna, breaking it into chunks while maintaining some larger pieces for a pleasing texture. If the sauce appears too thick, add a small amount of the reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached. Season the mixture with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.

Mix Pasta and Sauce: Introduce the cooked pasta into the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together thoroughly, making sure each piece of pasta is evenly coated with the rich lemon dill sauce. Allow it to warm through for an additional 2-3 minutes over low heat.

Serve: Plate your creamy lemon dill tuna pasta, generously garnishing with grated Parmesan cheese, lemon wedges, and extra dill, if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy the delightful medley of flavors!
