Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped

1 large egg

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little spice)

2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: If you choose to bake the meatballs, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Alternatively, prepare a large frying pan for cooking on the stovetop.

Combine the Ingredients: In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped basil, egg, onion powder, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if you prefer some heat). Gently mix the ingredients with your hands or a spatula until just combined. Be cautious not to overmix, as this can lead to dense meatballs.

Form the Meatballs: With your hands, portion the mixture into equal-sized meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter. This should yield around 16 to 20 meatballs, depending on your preferred size.

        Cook the Meatballs:

          - Baking Method: Arrange the meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to help them brown. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fully cooked (the internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

            - Stovetop Method: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook for about 6-8 minutes, turning them occasionally until they are browned on all sides and thoroughly cooked.

Serve: If desired, warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan or microwave. Serve the meatballs hot with a side of marinara sauce for dipping, or enhance your meal by placing them on top of pasta, inside a sub, or alongside roasted vegetables.

Garnish: For an attractive finish, sprinkle additional fresh herbs or a bit more grated Parmesan cheese on top of the meatballs before serving.
