Ingredients

1 lb (450g) pizza dough (either store-bought or homemade)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional: Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). To make cleanup easier, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough: If you’re using store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to soften. For homemade dough, prepare it as per your recipe until the initial rise is complete, then punch it down to release the air.

Divide the Dough: Place the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Using a sharp knife or dough cutter, divide the dough into 12 equal pieces, each weighing approximately 2-3 oz.

Shape the Knots: Take one piece of dough and roll it into a rope about 8 inches long. Create a knot by twisting the rope into a loop and folding the ends underneath. Repeat this process for all the pieces and arrange the knots on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring there's enough space between them for rising.

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with the minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well mixed and aromatic.

Coat the Knots: Using a pastry brush, generously brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each knot, making sure they’re fully coated. Reserve a small portion of the garlic butter for later use.

Add Cheese: Evenly sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the coated knots, ensuring each knot gets a delicious cheesy layer.

Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. The garlic knots should rise and turn a beautiful golden brown when fully cooked.

Final Touch: Once baked, take the garlic knots out of the oven and immediately brush them with the remaining garlic butter while they are still warm for that extra flavor boost.

Serve: Allow the knots to cool for a few minutes before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, and a side of marinara sauce makes an excellent dipping option.
