1/4 cup pureed fresh strawberries (about 5-6 medium strawberries)

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar, sifted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2-3 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk)

For Garnish:

Fresh strawberries, halved

Chocolate shavings

Prepare the Cake Layers:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans, ensuring they are evenly coated for easy release.

      Make the Vanilla Layer:

        - In a mixing bowl, beat together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

              Make the Chocolate Layer:

                  Make the Strawberry Layer:

                    - Repeat the process for the third layer, but blend part of the milk with the 1/4 cup of pureed strawberries, gently folding to incorporate without over-mixing. Pour into the final cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.

                      Cool the Layers:

                        - Allow each cake layer to cool in their pans for about 10 minutes. Carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

                          Prepare the Frosting:

                            - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth. Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, continue mixing, then add the vanilla extract and heavy cream. Beat until the frosting is light, fluffy, and spreadable, about 3-5 minutes.

                              Assemble the Cake:

                                - On a serving plate, place the vanilla layer as the base. Spread a generous layer of frosting on top before adding the chocolate layer.
